Today...Is A Joyous Day!

February 9th, 2011 a sweet girl caught my eye.

Her name was Maya, and she had just arrived at New Day Foster Home in Beijing.

They post this picture of her, and I instantly fell in love, from that day I prayed for her...Nonstop.

This little girl so fragile and sweet.

The plan at the time, was they were going to nurse her back to health..

...so she was strong enough to have surgery.

She would then have her ENT surgery to fix her lip.

Then next the plan was to find her a family.

She was so sweet, and had the BEST smile.

I shared any photo that they posted of her, I shared the updates, and silly things she did.

I wished more than anything that she would be mine.

I loved her so much.

On May 20th, 2011 we recieved a not so pleasent update.

One that actually broke my heart, and hurt so much.

Maya....Had been diagnosed with a Wilms tumor.

Maya...had cancer.

My friend had messaged me share this news.

Through out the months I was constantly getting in contact with her caretakers.

I needed to know how she was doing.

And surprisingly enough...Maya took those Chemo treatments as great as is humanly possible while fighting cancer.

Every time they shared a picture or update, they always said she was "All Smiles!"

My little super girl.  It was always good to hear those nice updates.

They made me smile.

She fought that battle with cancer for almost exactly a year...

But today my friends... Is a joyous day!

Why, you might ask?

Because Maya was announced.....

CANCER FREE!

Maya says that something to shout about, and I honestly agree with her!

Praise the Lord, this little princess is on her way to a new life!

The Crying Girl

"...As she was sobbing uncontrollably and just being ignored, she had a pencil which she kept turning over and over as she sobbed."

"...She is tied to the bed.  I was told the caregivers have no patience for her."

Oh sweet one how my heart breaks for you.

These small sentences speak volumes.

... ripping my heart to pieces, I don't understand.

You are so small, and sweet...

but yet locked in a crib, that's more like a cage.

eleven years old...and you've never been wanted by anyone.

You carry more painful memories, and horrifying scars then I could fathom.

Someone Else

Today I'm not posting about me, or my missions trips, or my life.

But instead someone else, and their mission.

There is a beautiful family of 20, soon to be 23.

The vast majority of their sweet ones are adopted, from state care as well as overseas.

Yes, they are going back for 3 more.

Wonderful right?

If you wouldn't mind jumping over to this blog linked here  and see how you can help.

Not only can you help fund them, but you will also be entered to win some awesome items.

They received travel dates this morning, and are leaving very soon to go visit their kiddos.

They still need a bit of money, can you help fund them?

Do it for Charity, Jonathan, and Matthew.

They need a momma, and papa.

He Knows

It's those sweet moments when my 'Uganda Bound' Fund grows a little.

Or little notes from friends saying they love your heart.

It's the wonderful gift of declaring that my heart is only this way because of Him.

Without Him....

This would not be possible.

I truly believe that when you are right in the middle...

..The direct center of God's will...

He will provide.

He knows the exact amount of money that is required for this trip.

He knows that I only have a short time to collect that amount.

He also knows the exact moment that He will provide that money to me.

Whether it be through a generous donor...

Or a fundraiser that was blessed beyond comprehension...

He knows...

"Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son." ~ John 14:13

You Go Before Me

I have so many mixed emotions about Uganda, luckily the majority of them are positive! ;)   I am overjoyed with the kindness of people recently, so many of them willing to help me get to where I'm going.   Such beautiful people!   I am hopefully going to be making some flower hair clippies soon, and I will put them up for people to purchase. :)

I'm going to try and make more posts, with devotionals, songs, Bible verses, ect.  that have stuck out to me. Recently the song 'We Wont Be Shaken' by Building 429 has been on replay.  The lyrics, hit me and strike up emotion that I love.  It gives me the chills and fills me with God's love, and the power to change anything.  I truly love it.

This world has nothing for me
This life is not my own
I know You go before me and I am not alone
This mountain rises higher
The way seems so unclear
But I know that You go with me so I will never fear
I will trust in You

Whatever will come our way
Through fire or pouring rain
We won't be shaken
No we won't be shaken
Whatever tomorrow brings
Together we'll rise and sing
That we won't be shaken
No we won't be shaken
Oooh oooh oh
Oooh oooh oh
Oooh oooh oh
No we won't be shaken

You know my every longing
You've heard my every prayer
You've held me in my weakness
Cause You are always there
So I'll stand in full surrender
It's Your way and not my own
My mind is set on nothing less
Than You and You alone
I will not be moved oh

Whatever will come our way
Through fire or pouring rain
We won't be shaken
No we won't be shaken
Whatever tomorrow brings
Together we'll rise and sing
That we won't be shaken
No we won't be shaken

We will trust in You
We will not be moved
We will trust in You
And we won't be shaken
[x3]

No we won't be shaken

Whatever will come our way
Through fire or pouring rain
We won't be shaken
No we won't be shaken
Whatever tomorrow brings
Together we'll rise and sing
That we won't be shaken
No we won't be shaken
Oooh oooh oh
Oooh oooh oh
Oooh oooh oh
No we won't be shaken
Oooh oooh oh
Oooh oooh oh
Oooh oooh oh
No we won't be shaken

I came about this song right as my opportunity to go to Uganda came.  I was terrified, and not sure if God was calling me to go to Uganda.  I was afraid of all the things that could happen, but this song talks about how "I know You go before me and I am not alone, This mountain rises higher, The way seems so unclear, But I know that You go with me so I will never fear, I will trust in You."   Sometimes God asks us to do things, or go places that are scary to us.  Places that we long to go until the time comes and then fear sets in.  But the neat thing?  God has already paved our way, He already knows what will happen.  He knows, and He asks us to trust Him when the fear sets in.  That is exactly what I am doing.  The fear set in, and I gave it to Him.

Trust God, He knows what He is doing.  Even though sometimes it scares us, it's only there to benefit us.

A New Adventure

I'm excited, and nervous, and terrified, and filled with joy as well as disbelief.  I am (Lord willing) going to Uganda, Africa in September!  Yes, you read that right!  I am about to embark on a new journey, and have the longing of my heart be fulfilled!

Ever since I was little I have always wanted to go on a missions trip to Uganda, I always knew that I would spend time over there doing missions work.  Now that is actually happening!

Let me tell you a little bit about how this opportunity came about...

Beginning of last year, my best friend and I received a Facebook message from a lady whom neither of us had met.  She introduced her self and shared with us her passion for orphans, and missions work.   She told us that she had been following our orphan advocate blog, as well as being our Facebook friends.   Then she said that she knew it was a very off the wall and crazy thing to offer, but that she was a team leader with Children's Hope Chest and was going on a trip to Uganda in 2013, she wanted us to join her.  She said she thought we would be wonderful influences on the other girls our age that were going , as well as enjoy ourselves because of our hearts for the fathers, and God.

At the time no dates were set and the trip was still being put together but she asked that we pray about it, and discuss it with our parents.  Although my best friend wasn't able to go, my parents said they would consider it.   At the time I thought it would be nifty to go, seeing as I had always wanted to go to Uganda, and do missions work.  I chatted back and forth with Bethany (The Team Leader.)  but life got hectic, and I got caught up with getting money for my Mexico trip, and eventually just forgot about going to Uganda.

End of March beginning of April rolled around and my heart was dying to do some type of mission work, so I started praying about it.  I prayed that God would provide me with an opportunity, whether it be to go back down to Mexico, or whether it be a completely new experience with new people and a new place.   Honestly, I just needed to do something to benefit others.   I started to pray for God to open doors, and that is when he reminded me about Bethany's message.  I scrolled back through my messages, found it and replied to her.  I asked her if it was too late for me to jump in on the trip.  She said I could still jump in!  I was ecstatic, and it felt right.   I brought it up to my mom again and I asked her if she thought my dad would let me.  She said she didn't have an issue with it, but of course I would have to ask my dad.  I asked my dad about it that night, read him the messages, and of course as any good dad would do, he went out and researched the organization, and emailed people.  He was hesitant to say yes, at first but then he was "Okay" with it.

Of course I can only go if I can manage to raise, and get the money on my own.  But my words to my dad were "To you it's $4,000 that I have to get in for months time.  But to me?  It's JUST $4,000.  If God wants me there, He will provide me with ways to get the money."   Of course to everyone I sound insane, and to myself I sound a little insane.  But!  The first time I went to Mexico?  God provided me of $375 dollars in three days time just from generous hearts that wanted to see me do work for God.  So needless to say, I'm not to worried about the money.

Just tonight it hit me that in 4 months I will be (God willing) spending a week in a small village in Uganda called Nyada (Pronounced Nee-YA-duh)  loving on kids, painting their nails, and just reminding them that they are loved.   I am truly excited, and am praying my heart out that God will provide me with the money I that will be required to go.

I will be brainstorming for ways to raise the money, but if you feel lead to give to my fund I will put a donation box up on the right side of my blog.

Thank you for taking the time to read, and if you can't donate praying is more powerful.
Love you all!
Alyssa :)
